Do you really know the right order to use skincare products?

To meet everyone's skincare needs, various brands have rolled out all sorts of skincare product sets, with combined functions for better results. But here's the thing: with so many products in one set, which one should you use first? And if you use them in the wrong order, will it affect the outcome? Let's dive into the proper sequence for using a set of skincare products. So, what's the right order? Let's assume a typical skincare set includes these: facial cleanser, toner, essence, serum, eye cream, lotion, and moisturizer. While it's generally fine to use all of them for healthy skin, everyone's skin is different, so adjustments can be made based on individual needs. You don't have to use all of them if you don't want to. 1. Facial Cleanser: Cleansing is crucial for skincare—it's the foundation. Only when you've thoroughly cleaned away the oil and grime from the surface of your skin can the following skincare products do their job. Start by taking a small amount of facial cleanser, about 2cm of cream, mix it with some water to lather it up, and gently massage the foam in circular motions on your face to cleanse. Rinse it off with warm water. Using the foam instead of the cream directly helps avoid stripping away too much of the skin's natural oils, preventing dryness. 2. Toner: After cleansing, pat your face dry with a damp cotton pad, then immediately use toner to replenish your skin's moisture. You can moisten a cotton pad with toner and gently wipe your entire face with it. This not only helps hydrate your skin but also serves as a second cleanse, regulating your skin's outer layer and allowing it to better absorb the toner's ingredients, giving you a hydrated base. If you have the time and your skin needs it, you can fully saturate several cotton pads and apply them all over your face for a deeper moisturizing effect. 3. Essence: Essence, with its high nutritional content, can penetrate deep into your skin quickly for rapid repair. However, be mindful not to overdo it—excessive use may lead to a buildup of nutrients on the skin's surface, which could clog pores and cause new skincare issues. 4. Eye Cream: The skin around the eyes is delicate and sensitive, so avoid using the skincare products you've applied elsewhere on your face. Instead, opt for a dedicated eye cream. Take a small amount on your fingertips, gently rub to emulsify, and then apply evenly around the eye area. Avoid tugging at the skin to prevent sagging and fine lines. 5. Lotion and Moisturizer: For most people, the order of using lotion and moisturizer is the same. They both mainly aim to moisturize and lock in hydration. However, moisturizers often come with additional skincare benefits like whitening or anti-aging properties. Choose based on your skin's needs. If using both, apply lotion first, followed by moisturizer. Following the correct order of skincare products ensures they work their best to care for your skin and achieve the desired results.
